Additional flood lighting to be installed in sports fields across Georges River

Georges River Council Administrator, John Rayner, said that Council will install more than $200,000 of additional sports field flood lighting across five local sporting facilities.
Mr Rayner said the lighting upgrade will take place at Gifford Park, Riverwood Park, Olds Park, Carss Park Sports Fields and Harold Fraser Oval.
“The additional flood lighting will improve substandard areas of lighting and will improve visibility for park patrons within the sports fields and their vicinity.
“The installation of the additional flood lights is part of Council’s 2016-2017 Operational Plan and Budget which highlighted a number of sports fields to be upgraded as part of the capital works program.
“The funding for this project is part of Council’s Infrastructure Plus Program, and includes development contributions, and an $18,000 grant awarded to Council as part of the NSW Government’s 2015 Community Building Partnership Program”.
Mr Rayner said Council is committed to improving sporting and recreational facilities in Georges River as they encourage people of all ages to get active, participate in local sport, and spend time enjoying the outdoors.
“Our parks are well patronised and it is important that Council continues to provide and contribute towards facilities that benefit our whole community”.
