Posted 8 May 2013 by (Hurstville News)

First-time author and local resident, Elizabeth Ward will be a special guest speaker at Penshurst Branch Library on Monday, 20 May 2013.

Her book, The Banishing Stones , is a fantasy story that encompasses the magical world of witches and wizards in the whimsical land of Wystovia.

Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Jack Jacovou said Elizabeth is a talented up and coming author and her first book is a wonderful achievement.

“Elizabeth has worked very hard over the past several months to turn her dream of writing a book into a reality,” he said.

“This unique author talk will also be an opportunity for budding novelists to hear first-hand how Elizabeth got her work published, including the challenges she faced in chasing her dream to see her name in print.

“The journey to becoming a published author is often a long road and this author talk will be a great opportunity for the community to come along and learn more about fantasy genre writing.”

Prior to her writing career, Elizabeth had worked extensively in the telecommunications and banking industry. From an early age, she loved reading children’s books, and took inspiration for her first book from The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis .

She will sign copies of her book at the author talk. The book will also be available for purchase at the event.
