Clean Up Australia Day

Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Vince Badalati is encouraging everyone in the community to don a pair of gloves and join with friends and family to help clean up the Hurstville local government area as part of Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 1 March 2009.

Mayor Badalati said Clean Up Australia Day is a perfect opportunity for Hurstville City residents to help enhance our local parks and waterways and think of ways to reduce our communitys environmental impact.

“In the City of Hurstville, we are very fortunate to have access to 165 parks covering 248 hectares, with a rich array of flora and fauna,” he said.

“We all have a responsibility to preserve and protect these wonderful natural assets, which belong to everyone in our community.

“You can either turn up at one of Councils sites to lend a hand or register your own venue on the Clean Up Australia Day website.”

Council will hold clean up events at the following locations and times:

Basil Street Reserve , Riverwood 8.30am - 11.00am
Oatley Park , Oatley 8.00am - 12.00pm
