Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Vince Badalati is inviting the community to gather their family and friends and come join in the fun of Hurstville City Council’s Australia Day Festival (26 January) at Oatley Park.

Mayor Badalati said the event will help celebrate everything that is great about our wonderful country.

“There is a superb line-up of live entertainment including The Minions Live Show, LazyTown’s Sportcus and Stephanie, Eddie Spaghetti and the Wild Aussie Animals,” he said.

“There will be amusement rides, barnyard animals, face painting, sheep shearing, cow milking, balloon animals and a host of free children’s activities.

“There will also be an interactive workshop for children that will enable them to learn more about Hurstville City Library and its facilities.”

Mayor Badalati said the event will enable residents to celebrate locally without having to travel to Kogarah, Sutherland or further afield.

“Oately Park has it all – it is a quintessential Australian park which boasts hectares of natural bushland, the banks of the Georges River and picnic and barbeque facilities,” he said.

“Australia Day is all about people coming together locally to reflect and be proud of our heritage, sense of community spirit and cultural diversity.”

Mayor Badalati said as part of the celebrations, a special Citizenship Ceremony will be held on the day.

“A group of new citizens will be able to proudly call themselves Australian for the first time on our National Day,” he said.
