Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Steve McMahon recently presented a cheque for $1,821.96 to the Pole Depot Community Centre Inc.

Mayor McMahon said he was delighted that Council was able to support this community organisation.

“As part of this year’s Chinese New Year festivities, we hosted a special concert dinner to help raise funds for the Pole Depot Community Centre.

“It was a great success and we raised much needed funds for this wonderful centre,” he said.

“The money represents all the proceeds raised from the raffle on the night.

“I am pleased that Council has contributed additional funding to bring the total of the donation to $2,000.”

Mayor McMahon praised the Pole Depot on its work and contribution to the community.

“This wonderful facility has provided much needed support for residents of all ages in the greater St George region for more than 37 years,” he said.

“In that time they have touched so many lives and helped countless people through their diverse range of programs.

“Their services include supporting the aged and carers of people with dementia, disability, illness and frailty as well as programs of early intervention for youth and parenting playgroups.

“Pole Depot also supports our Chinese community with English classes, and provides frail elderly day care, parenting courses and helps migrants settle into life in Australia.”

Lesley Pullen accepted the cheque on behalf of the Pole Depot and thanked Council and the community for their ongoing support.
