Georges River Council set to celebrate Australia Day
George Rivers Council Administrator John Rayner has announced that Georges River Council will host a free Australia Day Festival at Carss Bush Park on Thursday 26 January 2017.
Mr Rayner said the Australia Day Festival is set to be a great day out for the whole family.
âThe event will begin at 10.00am, where we will welcome 100 new Australian citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony,â he said.
âFollowing the ceremony, the festival will commence with a range of entertainment, including live music, market stalls, food and performances set to thill festival goers of all ages.
âChildren will be entertained with appearances from Curious George and Tree Fu Tom, as well as 7D Interactive Mobile Cinema and Carss Park Cottage Museum tours.
âThe festival will conclude at 9.00pm with a spectacular fireworks display over Kogarah Bay.â
Mr Rayner said Australia Day is all about people coming together to reflect and be proud of our nationâs great heritage, sense of community spirit and cultural diversity.
âFor over 25 years this event has showcased great live music, diverse cultural performances, amusing roving entertainers and market stallholders selling clothing, crafts and foods from around the world,â he said.
