Georges River Council to host second Free Mulch Giveaway Day

Posted 26 August 2016 by (Hurstville News)

Residents of the local area are invited to take advantage of Georges River Councils free Mulch Giveaway on Saturday 3 September 2016.
This is Council’s second free mulch giveaway for the year, and everyone is encouraged to come down to Councils Mortdale Depot on Roberts Avenue to get some mulch for their gardens.
There has been a large amount of mulch accumulated from tree pruning and associated works within the local government area and Council now wants to give this to members of the community.
Mulching your garden has many environmental and aesthetic benefits, including protecting plants’ root systems and adding much-needed nutrients to the soil.
It also helps prevent weeds and retain moisture, so that you will spend less time maintaining your garden and more time enjoying it.
Mulching is a natural form of recycling where nothing is wasted and your garden is replenished - the end result is your garden will look greener and healthier.
All residents are welcome to take advantage of this free offer to not only help the environment but to improve the appearance of your front and back gardens.
Residents will be able to obtain free mulch subject to:
  • Providing Georges River Council rates notice or equivalent proof of residential address
  • The mulch being for domestic use only
  • A limit of one utility vehicle or suitable trailer load per resident, with a limit of three (3) bags of mulch per vehicle.
  • Bags of mulch will be available for residents who do not have access to a utility vehicle or suitable trailer.

When: 8.00am - 2.00pm, Saturday 3 September, 2016
Where : Mortdale Council Depot, 100 Roberts Avenue, Mortdale
Cost: Free - Please note there will be a limit of three bags per resident.
