Look After YOUR Mind during National Drug Action Week

Posted 4 June 2010 by (Hurstville News)

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Looking After YOUR Mind’ and turns the focus to the effect that alcohol and other drugs can have on health and wellbeing.

Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Philip Sansom said Council has joined forces with Kogarah City Council, St George Youth Services and Pole Depot Youth Zone to educate young people about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol.

"Unfortunately, drug use amongst Australians, especially young people, continues to increase,” he said.

"Education is now more important than ever to help reduce the damaging effects of alcohol and drug use in our community.”

Council’s free event will feature interactive information stalls, games, art workshops, music and giveaways.

The City of Hurstville Lions Club will also provide a free sausage sizzle on the day.
