Sugar Extravaganza exhibition

Mayor Badalati said the Sugar Extravaganza exhibition features decorative cakes created by designers from across Australia.

“Cake decorating is a very creative and skillful art form which is frequently showcased at weddings and other important celebrations,” he said.

“It has also become a very popular leisure activity, with many people in the St George region undertaking short courses in different aspects of cake decorating.”

Mayor Badalati said Sugar Extravaganza is being held in conjunction with the 15 th National Seminar of the Cake Decorators Association of NSW.

“Along with the best examples, the exhibition will also feature past tools, techniques and publications demonstrating the changing art of cake decorating,” he said.

“I encourage you to come along to Sugar Extravaganza for a taste of excellence in cake art.”

The official opening of Sugar Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, 1 August 2009 at 1.00pm . All welcome.

Sugar Extravaganza will run at Hurstville City Museum & Gallery until 22 August 2009.

The Cake Decorators Association is also inviting the community to a display of national competition cakes at Citigate Central Hotel, Thomas Street, Sydney on 26 August 2009 (entry by gold coin donation). For information, telephone 9525 4295.
