Three weeks to go for 2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards entries

Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Vince Badalati is encouraging local businesses to submit their entries for the 2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards, with just three weeks remaining until the close for entries.
“I welcome Hurstville City businesses of all sizes to enter this year’s awards - entries will close on Friday, 6 May 2016 at 5.00PM,”
“Hurstville City Council is inviting local businesses to celebrate their outstanding contributions to economic and community life in Hurstville City, at the 2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards being held on Friday, 3 June 2016.” he said.
Mayor Badalati said the 2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards, now in their 14 th successful year, recognises the outstanding work, dedication and ongoing commitment of local businesses.
“The awards are a great opportunity for Council to acknowledge the contributions of our local businesses and the vital role they play in boosting the local economy,
“In addition, they provide a range of vital services and products to residents and visitors to Hurstville City.” he said.
Mayor Badalati said the 2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards help to promote core business values such as customer service, and publicly acknowledge local business achievements in specific industry categories.

2016 Hurstville Excellence in Business Awards Categories:
Category 1: Excellence in Hospitality Services
This category is open to eat in cafes, restaurants, function venues, caterers clubs and hotels.
Category 2: Excellence in Retail
This category is for any shop front style retail businesses e.g. supermarkets, grocery stores and variety stores, clothing stores, take away food outlets, bookstores, travel agents, newsagents, beauty therapists or drycleaners.
Category 3: Excellence in Professional Services
This category is for businesses that offer legal, financial, property, insurance, technical architectural or engineering services.
Category 4: Excellence in Health, Fitness and Medical Services
This category is suitable for medical centres, pharmacies and allied health providers such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, naturopaths, speech pathologists, psychologists, counselling services and businesses whose core activities focus around fitness or wellbeing.
Category 5: Excellence in Education and Children’s Services
This category is for business that offers adult education, out of school hour’s activities for children, educational tutoring or other types of academic assistance and child care centres.
Category 6: Excellence in Accessibility
This category recognises businesses that demonstrate innovation in providing access to their products, programs and services for people with disabilities and the elderly.
Category 7: Excellence in Customer Service
This category recognises businesses that are able to demonstrate outstanding customer service in how they meet customer’s needs and expectations. Category 8: Excellence in Marketing and Promotions
This award recognises an outstanding marketing or promotional campaign that has resulted in a significant increase in sales or awareness of the business. Category 9: Excellence in New Business (under 12 months)
This award recognises a new business to the Hurstville local government area. Eligible businesses would have commenced operation after April 2015.
Category 10: Excellence in Community Contribution
This award recognises a business that has significantly contributed the Hurstville Local Government Area through its support of local sporting teams, facilities, charities or community organisations, services and events.
Category 11: Business Person of the Year
This category recognises an outstanding and business person who has consistently demonstrated leadership, influence, initiative, innovation, investment and a strong commitment to the local area.

Hurstville City Council 2016 Business of the Year
An overall award will be presented to acknowledge the Hurstville local government area’s most outstanding business in 2015/16. This award will be chosen from a pool of winners from each of the above categories.
