Youre invited to a journey around Australia
Hurstville Museum & Gallery’s newest exhibition entitled Are We There Yet? A journey around Australia will officially open on Saturday, 19 September 2015.
Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Vince Badalati said that this exhibition, based on the extremely popular children’s book Are We There Yet? by Alison Lester, is designed for the whole family to enjoy.
“Having won the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Picture Book of the Year Award in 2005, this exhibition explores rural Australia as well as Lester’s own influences,” he said.
“ Are We There Yet? tells the story of a family trip around Australia told by eight-year old Gracie.
“In addition, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see framed original drawings and watercolors, preliminary work, family photographs, her children’s own journals from their travels and an Australian map.
“It’s a heartfelt story and the exhibition, curated by Books Illustrated Gallery, has travelled around Australia as well as Taiwan and Japan.”
The official opening on Saturday, 19 September 2015 at 1.30pm will also include a story-time session.
